A good end to a pretty good year
It’s not been a bad year and I’m a great one for lists so here’s my list of the highlights. And by the way I’m a geat supporter of lists of a defined length and that’s generally 5. Less and you haven’t given the list enough thought; more and you’re not really focussing. So here goes…

There was a knock on the kitchen window at 0625. Good friend Tony Halls (owner of Anthony’s, the excellent menswear shop on Trinity Street) was picking me up and we were off on a gentlemen’s day out. Of sorts.

in life… and people who know me will say that I’ve got more to drop than most. But I’m not uncomfortable about that, our government (at all levels), big business and other large institutions like the NHS deserve a cynical view.

A day in the life: as a county councillor

in lifeI must confess that this is not a typical day. I do work just about full time and my council activities are more usually spread across the week and include evenings and weekends too. But today is just about 100% council related. I squeeze in work emails etc during the day when I can.

Face to face with the NHS
I really do worry about the right-wing idealogues in the Coalition which seem intent on changing our health service and our education systems for the worse and irretrievably so. There’s a good article (click here) in the Observer about it today. These guys say it’s about choice. Rubbish.
