  • 2015: generally exceptional …

Staying with the precedent set for 2013 and continued for 2014 here are my reflections of 2015. In many respects it’s been an exceptional year and although there has been some sadness there hasn’t been the uptick that you might have expected as my friends, colleagues and relations all get older.

  • Damn! I love Indonesia

We were invited to a wedding, Sat 12 Dec 15. It was Juni’s cousin’s son whom we knew quite well so we had a mind to go. Problem was it was in Surabaya, East Java. Rather a long way to go just for a family event. So we decided to make a holiday of it.

  • Five habits of a moderately effective person

With apologies to Stephen Covey and his ‘Seven habits of highly effective people’. Click here for more information about that book. Here are my five.

  • 2014: good but at the same time sad

    in

I set the precedent last year (click here) of listing my five highlights of the year so I suppose I’d better continue. But it’s difficult to call them all highlights because it’s been a year of some sadness. I’ll start with that and then there’s four rather more upbeat recollections.

  • 5 reasons why I prefer @_CaffeNero to @CostaCoffee

  • lists of 5: 5 things that add to my quality of life

I confess to initiating what became a rather long thread on the HI People group on Facebook recently regarding the availability or otherwise of croissants from our village Tesco Express and the relative merits of croissants from different sources.

  • Est Bar or n’est pas bar?

Readers of my blogs will know that I’m a creature of habit. And that I’ve been a business traveller for most of my life and I’ve evolved a set of habits which minimise the stress that goes with it.

  • A life-time of dentistry

I went to the dentist on Tuesday.  I go every 6 months or so and I usually get away with an admonishment that I’m not flossing enough then it’s a quick burst of tooth and gum valeting and I’m out with a bill still in two digits. But this time was different. I was in…

  • blogging about blogging; 25 Jan 14

I’m off to London today to learn about blogging. I’m going to a Guardian Masterclass ‘How to blog like a professional’. Start-time is 1000 so it’s an early start for a Saturday: 0815 train from Cambridge gets me into King’s Cross soon after 0900. Time for breakfast with the venue only 5 minutes further.
