Histon & Impington Green Spaces (HIGS) publishes a calendar each year and invites photographers to submit photos which are then judged by an ‘expert’ panel. The chosen 13, one for each month and one for the back page, are then subject to a public vote to select one for the front cover. The photos should reflect some nature based theme.
You can submit multiple images but this year any one photographer could only have two chosen for the calendar itself.
This is the fourth time the calendar has been published and the first time that I’ve submitted any photographs. I submitted most of the twelve below.

Other photographers entered impressive wildlife shots. They’re not my forte but I imagine that no-one else submitted a photograph of farm equipment!
Two of mine were selected, numbers 11 and 12 above and then number 12, the featured image above, won the popular vote to be on the front cover! The ultimate accolade indeed.
The photo was taken early one morning, I’d just dropped by car off at the garage in the centre of Histon and I thought a photo of the Green might be interesting and it was. I especially like the man on the bridge and the lone duck swimming towards me. It was taken with my Samsung 20FE mobile phone, 1/210th at f1.8 and ISO40 with little post processing.
