At a recent Cambridge Camera Club event one of the ‘senior’ members who knows what he’s talking about pointed out that my portfolio was short of photos ‘needing a fast shutter speed’. That often means sport so I spent an afternoon taking photos at the May Bumps.
This is one of my photos from the afternoon and was taken was taken with my Sony A7 III 1/1250th at f8.0 and ISO 500 and 153mm on the zoom.
My camera was set for continuous shooting but I generally stopped too soon. In this one if I’d taken a few more exposures I’d have had a shot of the full blades of the oars at the beginning of the stroke instead of this one at the end.
It was a very bright day and this is maybe why the red of the oarswomen’s tops lacks texture despite efforts to increase it in post.
