It’s not quite the same but I spotted this sign in Arequipa when I visited Peru in 2013. I liked the sign and it was one of the positives that day because it began with a bad case of the Big D during the night.
I agree with the sentiment. Coffee is a good drink and it has its purpose and that’s why I enjoy at least one coffee early in the day to fire me up. But I don’t drink too much because that’s counter productive so that generally means a coffee after lunch but no more.
And as is my wont I photograph what I drink so I’ve collected enough coffee photographs to reckon I could put together a set for the Cambridge Camera Club PDI panel. This calls for five photographs with some common theme with an arrangement of the five which is a statement in itself. I didn’t really appreciate the significance of this latter point so I didn’t feature in top places, but then neither did lots of others, but I still think it makes a nice set.
My first photograph was another poster, to provide a focus for the other four I thought. This one I encountered in The Swan River valley in Western Australia in 2017. That was on my big 70th birthday trip.
Then came my four photographs from three different European countries.
This is Cellini which I enjoyed after lunch in the Pizzaria Grottino in Arosa. It was one of my first holidays post Covid and I joined a Great Rail Journeys trip to Switzerland in February 2022.
We were staying in Chur and Arosa was an easy day trip. We stopped off in St Moritz on the way back.
I returned to Spain a few times after lock down and discovered the cafe El Terrer 1834 in Sanpedor where I enjoyed a café Araba. This was one of my very occasional evening coffees.
It wasn’t really a restaurant, it just did snacks but one was a splendid plate of smoked salmon cut three ways.
Later in 2022 travel became much easier and we were back again to Italy. This one’s a mid morning coffee at le Pergola Buca di Bacco by the harbour in Positano on the Amalfi coast. You can see I enjoyed a croissant to go with it.
We didn’t have great weather and that day there were big waves breaking over the sea front
Wherever you go in Italy you get good coffee. and this is Storie di Caffe is a special blend of Kimbo for the Autogrill chain of Service Stations.
I enjoyed this coffee as we headed off to the airport on our last day. We were travelling north from Genoa towards Turin and we had to stop because our driver was due a rest break!
