I was on a mission to take photographs to record Cambridge for a Cambridge Camera Club project. I’d done Lensfield Road and the streets south of it and was heading for Regent Street. I took the opportunity to visit the Catholic Church (the Church of Our Lady of The Assumption and The English Martyrs to give it its full name) for the first time. It was a hot sunny day and the contrast as I stepped inside was stark: dark, quiet and cool. It certainly contrasted with the sometimes excessive bling of churches in Italy.
The photo was taken with my Samsung Galaxy s20 FE 1/35th at f1.8 ISO 640 and a ’35mm focal length equivalent’ of 26mm. It’s the result of a merger of two photographs with the second adding the roof above the freize.
