Life’s too short to drink instant coffee

Photo of the Month: June 2023

Many of the photos I take are quick spur of the moment shots. Not only have I not spent an age setting the photo up but often I hadn’t even expected the opportunity to arise. And so it was with this one.

I was invited round to a friend’s house for a glass of wine. It’s a pleasant enough house in a neighbouring village with nothing special to see from the road. However as soon as you walk round the back you see a garden that goes on for ever with a lake in the foreground. A world away from the urbanisation of Cambridge and the noise and pollution of the A14 neither of which is very far away. Simply a delight. I reckon it’s nicely framed, there’s an interesting sky and despite the camera settings everything that should be in focus is!

This photo was taken with my Samsung Galaxy s20 FE 1/640th at f1.8 ISO 40 and a ’35mm focal length equivalent’ of 26mm. It was a pretty drab evening so I’m amazed that it came out so well.
